Discover Student Welcome Center

Discover York is York University’s welcome centre for prospective students. It is a high profile portal and first point of contact for the University visitors. Discover York offers a warm, welcoming, and innovative space to future students and family joining a campus tour or for current students looking for information and directions around the campus. The curved design of the wood entrance fills the volume of the two-storey entrance lobby while “swooping” the visitors into the centre. The large 10’ high glazing provides an instantaneous connection between the lobby space and the centre, filling the space with light. As well Bortolotto provided the planning, specifications, and tendering of all of the furniture and the implementation of technology and self-serve kiosks on iPads.
