St. Rose of Lima

The St. Rose of Lima Junior public schools required an addition of three full day kindergarten rooms. The project presents itself as a bright addition to the existing building. The yellow patched brick transforms into a white clean backdrop to the activities during recess. To accentuate the facade, the openings appear to be drawn into the building through an architectural device of a chamfered frame. In contrast to the punched window openings of the existing, the addition uses the openings as an opportunity to bring texture to the facade and to the very creative, a place to rest from play.
