The Reach Out Centre for Kids is one of Halton region’s largest children’s mental health facilities. Originally constructed in 1992, demand for the Centre’s services and programs increased to 15,000 children, youth and families. Inspired by Ben Bulben, a large rock formation in Ireland, this 3-storey plus lower level expansion will provide ROCK with a vibrant, happy, healthy facility designed to provide patients with a sense of clarity and the community with a sense of accessibility. Inviting, accessible and calming this 21,000 sf expansion including space for teaching, training and two floors of administrative space. The inspiration for our design of the relocation of the Burlington Ontario Early Years Centre (OYEC) is Reggio Emilia’s philosophy based on the natural development of children and the close relationships they share with the environment.
